According to United Nations information, nearly 700,000 people have left their homes in Lebanon within a week. In the last 24 hours alone, more than 100,000 people have been forced to flee.
According to the statement of Caroline Lindholm Billing, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees representative in Lebanon, more than 667,000 people have been registered as displaced across the country.
She stated that airstrikes carried out by the Israeli Defense Forces and mass evacuation warnings declared in a number of areas have forced thousands of families to leave their homes in a short time.
The majority of the displaced are seeking temporary shelter in Beirut, the Lebanese mountains, the northern regions, and the Bekaa Valley. Currently, about 120,000 people are living in communal shelters organized by the government, while the rest are staying with relatives or friends.
According to UN information, more than 78,000 Syrians have returned to Syria from Lebanon since the crisis began, and more than 7,700 Lebanese have also crossed into Syrian territory.
Lebanese officials have reported that at least 486 people have been killed and 1,313 injured as a result of Israeli attacks since March 2. According to UNICEF data, among the dead are at least 84 children.
The UN has emphasized that the humanitarian situation in the country is worsening and called on the international community to provide rapid assistance to Lebanon.
