In Uzbekistan, a fishing ban has been established on the Amu Darya and Syr Darya rivers from March 11 to May 31, and on natural water bodies in the Republic of Karakalpakstan and Khorezm region from April 26 to June 10.
Fishing is prohibited in all other natural water bodies from April 16 to May 31.
According to the State Committee for Ecology and Environmental Protection, these measures are being implemented to prevent a sharp decline in fish populations during their breeding period and the risk of extinction of certain species.
The decision does not apply to artificial water bodies, fish farming based on intensive technologies in irrigation networks, and cage aquaculture. Fishing during the prohibited periods and in the specified areas may lead to administrative and criminal liability.
