The U.S. Secretary also emphasized that the new leader is "on the run" and "lacks a legal basis."

We recall that Mojtaba Khamenei made his first official statement on March 12 and did not rule out the possibility of opening new fronts against the U.S. and Israel if the conflict continues.

The previous leader, Ali Khamenei, was killed on February 28 as a result of Israeli and U.S. strikes.
