Kamchybek Tashiev, the former chairman of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan, was brought to and interrogated by the Main Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on March 19 after returning to the country. This was reported by "Sputnik".
Tashiev was taken to the investigative body immediately around 10:00 after arriving from abroad. So far, the Ministry of Internal Affairs has not officially confirmed this information, and Tashiev's procedural status within the investigation has also not been disclosed.
According to information, he has been outside the country since February 17. He had previously stopped his treatment in Germany and returned to his homeland, then went abroad again a few days later.
On February 10, Kamchybek Tashiev was relieved of his post by order of President Sadyr Japarov, who explained this decision by a desire not to allow division in society. After his resignation, a number of personnel changes were implemented in the State Committee for National Security.
The many years of cooperation between Kamchybek Tashiev and Sadyr Japarov has been considered one of the most stable political tandems in the country. After the events of October 2020, their tandem strengthened further, and Tashiev became a key figure in the security system.
The current interrogation process and the criminal cases initiated in relation to it are considered to be of serious political and legal significance in Kyrgyzstan.
