During a working visit to the city of St. Petersburg, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.
During the talks, issues of further development and strengthening of comprehensive strategic partnership and alliance relations between Uzbekistan and Russia were considered.
The sides noted with satisfaction the high pace of development of trade and economic cooperation. In particular, it was noted that the volume of mutual trade between the two countries has increased by 20 percent since the beginning of the year.
It was also noted that large joint projects are being implemented in industry, energy, metallurgy, transport, chemical industry and other priority sectors of the economy.
Special attention was paid to the importance of maintaining positive rates in mutual trade, accelerating cooperation projects and expanding interregional cooperation.
Issues of developing cultural and humanitarian exchanges were also discussed. In particular, it was noted that the premiere of Georg Friedrich Handel's opera "Tamerlano" took place at the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg, and an exhibition of Uzbek applied arts opened at the State Hermitage Museum.
At the end of the conversation, the heads of state also exchanged views on the agenda of upcoming bilateral and international events.
