The bonuses and additional payments for the Uzbekistan national football team players for participation in the 2026 World Cup are currently under discussion. This was reported by the Russian publication "Vedomosti" reported.
In its article prepared about the Uzbekistan national team, the publication touched upon the preparation of the team that qualified for the World Cup for the first time in the country's history, fan travel, and financial matters.
It notes that the issue of prize money for the players has not yet been finalized.
"Bonuses and other additional payments for the players are currently being discussed. This is a solvable issue. At the moment, the main focus is on providing the players with comfortable conditions and ensuring they arrive at the games with minimal expenditure of energy," a representative of the Uzbekistan Football Association told the publication.
Also, the Uzbekistan Football Association expressed hope for support from the local Uzbek diaspora at the games in the USA. According to the Association, due to the complexity of logistics and high travel costs, a large group of fans from Uzbekistan is not expected to go.
The article also mentions the head coach of the national team, Fabio Cannavaro. According to Russian scout Nikolay Yegorichev, whom the publication spoke with, the Italian specialist finds himself in a favorable situation ahead of the World Cup.
"If the team fails to advance from the group, it will not cause significant criticism. If they achieve a good result, Cannavaro could return to Uzbekistan as a hero," he said.
