The national team of Uzbekistan suffered a defeat against the Netherlands in the latest friendly match held before the World Cup.
Tonight, on the night of June 9, the Uzbekistan national team, led by Fabio Cannavaro, took to the field against the Netherlands. The match, rich in interesting and intense battles, ended with a 2:1 victory for the Dutch.
From the very first minutes of the game, the Netherlands national team took the initiative and created a number of dangerous situations. However, they could not open the score for a long time. In the 32nd minute of the match, following a violation committed by Jahongir Urozov, the head referee awarded a penalty. Cody Gakpo effectively converted it to open the scoring.
The Uzbek players tried to equalize in the second half and succeeded in doing so. In the added minutes of regular time, experienced striker Igor Sergeev scored against the opponent's goal, bringing the score to 1:1.
However, the game ended dramatically. In the 90+8th minute of added time, Cody Gakpo scored another goal, recording a double and securing victory for his team.
Thus, the Uzbekistan national team suffered a defeat in its second friendly match during the training camp in North America. Earlier, on June 2, Cannavaro's charges lost to the Canada national team with a score of 0:2.
For the Netherlands, this match was also the second test match held before the World Cup. The Dutch had earlier lost 0:1 in a friendly match against Algeria on June 3.
