In the first match of the group stage of the 2026 World Cup, held in Houston, USA, the German national team secured a convincing 7:1 victory over Curaçao.
The Germans opened the scoring in the 6th minute through a goal by Felix Nmecha. However, the Curaçao players did not give up, and in the 21st minute, Livano Comenencia scored the first goal in World Cup history for his team.
After that, Germany took complete control of the match. In the first half, Nico Schlotterbeck and Kai Havertz, who converted a penalty, found the back of the opponent's net.
In the second half, Jamal Musiala, Nathan Brown, Deniz Undav, and once again Kai Havertz added their names to the scoreboard. As a result, Germany started the tournament with a resounding 7:1 victory.
It is worth noting that the Curaçao national team is participating in the World Cup for the first time in its history. Comenencia's goal went down in history as the country's first ever goal in the World Cup.
