Negotiations were held at the Koksaroy residence between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the President of the Republic of Albania, Bajram Begaj, with the participation of official delegations.
The meeting discussed issues of further expanding practical cooperation between the two countries and developing it in new directions.
At the outset of the negotiations, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized that for the first time in the history of Uzbekistan-Albania relations, a summit is being held at the level of heads of state, noting that this visit will elevate bilateral ties to a qualitatively new level.
The sides noted with satisfaction that political dialogue and contacts at various levels have significantly intensified in recent years. Cooperation within the framework of the UN and other international organizations was also highly appreciated.
Special attention during the negotiations was paid to expanding trade and economic relations, implementing joint projects in the agro-industrial complex, "green" energy, geology, information technology, digitalization, and tourism.
At the same time, prospects for using the potential of the Port of Durres in Albania for delivering Uzbek products to the markets of Southern Europe and Mediterranean countries were discussed.
Emphasizing the importance of expanding the legal framework for economic and investment cooperation, the sides agreed to establish an Intergovernmental Commission. The first meeting of the Commission will be held this year in Tashkent.
Within the framework of cultural and humanitarian cooperation, issues of organizing mutual Culture Days, film screenings, exhibitions, and creative visits were considered.
The heads of state also exchanged views on pressing issues on the regional and international agenda.
It was noted that these negotiations are regarded as an important step towards raising cooperation between Uzbekistan and Albania to a new level.
