A criminal case has been initiated against an official operating in the system of internal affairs bodies in Tashkent city. This was reported by the State Security Service.

It was noted that an operational measure was conducted in the direction of combating corruption, in cooperation with the State Security Service, the Main Directorate of Personal Security of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Tashkent City Prosecutor's Office.

According to pre-investigation review materials, the head of the Pre-Investigation Review and Criminal Investigation Department of the Shaykhontohur District Internal Affairs Directorate's FM Department, through his official acquaintances, demanded 7,000 US dollars in exchange for a positive resolution of a criminal case initiated against a person engaged in entrepreneurial activity under Article 168 (fraud) of the Criminal Code.

Additionally, he demanded another 500 US dollars to close a criminal case initiated regarding a fire incident at a restaurant owned by the entrepreneur, which resulted in a burn injury to a staff member. Thus, the official is said to have demanded a total of 7,500 US dollars.

During the operational measure, he was caught red-handed while receiving 2,500 US dollars of the previously agreed sum.

Currently, a criminal case has been initiated against this individual, and investigative actions are being carried out.

The State Security Service urged citizens to report cases of corruption and other violations to law enforcement agencies.
