President Shavkat Mirziyoyev attended the foundation stone laying ceremony of the IT park to be built in the territory of Yangi Namangan city, located in the Davlatobod district of Namangan region.
The head of state spoke at the event and emphasized that the rapid development of digitalization and artificial intelligence technologies, increasing high-income jobs, and creating modern production capacities in New Uzbekistan is one of the priority directions of state policy.
It was noted that since the beginning of this year, $2 billion in foreign investment has been attracted to the Namangan region. Additionally, 20 new projects worth $1.8 billion are being launched in cooperation with China, Turkey, India, and Russia.
These enterprises are expected to create 6,500 new jobs in the fields of pharmaceuticals, light industry, electrical engineering, construction materials, food, and chemical industry. At the same time, an additional 3.6 trillion soums in turnover, $200 million in exports, and 400 billion soums in budget revenues will be provided to the region's economy.
The President also announced the launch of another 28 projects worth $4 billion planned for implementation in the fields of industry, tourism, trade, and housing construction in Namangan.
Mirziyoyev noted that over 1 million 600 thousand of the population of Namangan region are young people, and emphasized that attracting them to the fields of information technology and artificial intelligence is an important task.
According to the President, experts estimate Uzbekistan's potential in the field of artificial intelligence at $10 billion. Now it is necessary to turn these opportunities into specific projects, new jobs, and high value-added products.
It was reported that IT parks will be built in Yangi Namangan, Samarkand, Chirchik, Nurafshan, Urgench, and Navoi cities within the framework of a project with a total value of $117 million with the participation of Chinese partners. The complex in Yangi Namangan is the first project of this program.
According to the project, a modern 17-story building will be constructed on an area of 1.7 hectares. The complex, covering an area of nearly 18 thousand square meters, will house educational and export centers, coworking and office spaces, a startup accelerator, and a special service system for foreign companies.
In the future, it is planned that dozens of companies and startup studios will operate in this IT park, as well as about 2 thousand young people will be provided with high-income jobs.
As a result of the project's implementation, it is aimed to bring the volume of information technology services in the region to 500 billion soums per year, and the export figure to $30 million.
At the end of the event, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev symbolically laid the foundation stone for the construction of the Yangi Namangan IT Park. At the same place, a ceremony was also held to launch a number of new investment projects and start construction works in the region.
