The European Union announced that it will allocate up to 2.7 billion euros in additional financial assistance to Ukraine based on the achievements reached regarding the reforms being implemented in the country. This was reported by Zamon.uz.
According to Reuters, the European Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, stated that a plan consisting of 173 reforms for Ukraine has been developed. She emphasized that if Kyiv implements these reforms, Ukraine can receive financial funds in stages.
Furthermore, according to Marta Kos, it is also possible that after the parliamentary elections in Hungary, the 90 billion euro credit from the European Union for Ukraine will be allocated. This credit was previously blocked by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.
Ukrainian economist and politician Serhiy Marchenko stated that the European Union credit will play an important role in covering Ukraine's $52 billion budget deficit in 2026.
On April 7-8, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a number of laws related to international financial assistance. In particular, documents on the automatic exchange of information on income from digital platforms, the extension of the military levy, and the digitalization of public administration were approved.
According to officials, these reforms will allow for the faster allocation of more than 2 billion euros in financial assistance for Ukraine.
According to analysts, this decision by the European Union will serve to support Kyiv's economic stability and accelerate the European integration process.
