Two corruption-related cases in the electricity supply system have been uncovered in Surkhandarya and Andijan regions. This was reported by the State Security Service.
According to the information, an engineer of the Shurchi district department of the "Energosavdo" branch of "Hududiy Elektr Tarmoqlari" JSC demanded $1,000 in exchange for not officially reviewing a report drawn up regarding violations of electricity usage rules at a citizen's commercial shop, not sending the case to court, and installing and registering a new electricity meter.
He initially received $200 and 1 million 50 thousand soums. Later, during an operative measure conducted by officers of the Surkhandarya region department of the State Security Service in cooperation with internal affairs bodies and the Department for Combating Economic Crimes, he was apprehended while receiving the remaining $500 and 2 million 400 thousand soums.
Additionally, in the Balikchi district of Andijan region, the deputy head of the electricity supply enterprise, using his official position, demanded money in exchange for positively resolving the monthly performance indicators of the district electricity supply enterprise employees through his acquaintances at the Andijan regional branch of "Hududiy Elektr Tarmoqlari" JSC.
He was caught red-handed during an operative measure conducted in cooperation with the State Security Service and the Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the General Prosecutor's Office, while receiving $300 collected by employees of the electricity supply enterprise.
Criminal cases have been initiated regarding both incidents. Investigative actions are currently underway.
