Today, June 29, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, held a telephone conversation with the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. This was reported by the presidential press service.
At the beginning of the conversation, the head of state sincerely congratulated Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on his birthday, wishing him good health, family happiness, and peace and prosperity to the fraternal people of Turkmenistan.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, in turn, conveyed to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev the greetings of the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
During the dialogue, the parties highly assessed the current state of strategic partnership relations between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan and confirmed their readiness to further expand cooperation.
It was noted that the volume of trade between the two countries is steadily growing. Joint cooperation projects are being implemented in industry, energy, transport, and other priority areas. The Shovot–Dashoguz cross-border trade zone is also operating effectively.
At the same time, special attention was paid to issues of further intensifying interregional cooperation, business ties, and cultural-humanitarian exchanges.
The conversation also highly assessed the outcomes of the recent meetings of the Intergovernmental Commission and the Business Council held in Ashgabat.
The parties exchanged views on preparing for the eighth Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and Azerbaijan, planned for October this year in Turkmenistan, as well as on coordinating topical issues on the regional agenda.
