Georgia's law enforcement agencies detained 45 foreigners as part of the fight against illegal migration. The country's Ministry of Internal Affairs reported this.
According to the report, among those detained are citizens of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Turkey, Pakistan, and a number of other countries.

Earlier, Georgia had tightened its migration legislation. In particular, fines for violating the period of stay in the country were increased. Additionally, permission was granted to deport foreigners who violated the rules for participating in protest demonstrations.
For reference, over the 11 months of 2025, 1,131 foreign citizens who were staying in Georgia without legal grounds were expelled from the country.
