As part of the comprehensive operational-preventive measures "Safe and Healthy Homeland" being carried out in Uzbekistan, a number of operational measures against the illegal circulation of narcotic drugs were implemented by employees of the State Security Service, the Customs Committee, and the Internal Affairs bodies. The State Security Service reported this.
According to reports, a person born in 1983, residing in the Yashnobod district, previously convicted, was detained while receiving a courier shipment sent from the Republic of Sierra Leone through a private courier service in the Yakkasaroy district of Tashkent city.
During the inspection, 728 grams of cocaine hidden inside auto parts were discovered and officially seized as material evidence in accordance with the established procedure.
Also, during a search of the suspect's residence, powdery substances placed in ziplock bags and sweets containing narcotic substances were found.
A criminal case has been initiated against this person under Part 2 of Article 246 of the Criminal Code regarding this incident. Investigative actions are currently ongoing.
Furthermore, during an operational measure conducted in the Bostanliq district of the Tashkent region in cooperation between the State Security Service and Internal Affairs bodies, a citizen born in 1971 was exposed for planting and cultivating the prohibited opium poppy plant.
When inspecting a land plot located on the mountain slopes in the territory of Gilavaso village, a total of 17,600 opium poppy plants and 9 cannabis plants were found.
Also, dried opium poppy heads and crushed opium poppy stored at his residence were seized as material evidence.
A criminal case has been initiated against the suspect under Article 270, Part 2, paragraph "v" and Articles 25, 273, Part 6, paragraph "a" of the Criminal Code. Preliminary investigative actions are currently being carried out on this case.
