In the Mirishkor district of Kashkadarya region, a person who had been appointed as acting school director less than 2 months ago demanded a $500 bribe from a student he intended to hire. The court sentenced him to 5 years of imprisonment.
According to court documents, 62-year-old F.G. was appointed as acting director of one of the general secondary schools in Mirishkor district on February 26, 2026. He was authorized to hire school staff and terminate their employment contracts.
On April 22, 2026, A.Kh., a 4th-year student studying physics at Karshi State University, was on the verge of graduation and looking for a job, applying to several schools. After being told that there were no vacancies at the educational institutions he had applied to, he went to the school headed by F.G.
According to the student's testimony, the director told him that he could hire him as a physics teacher and demanded $500 in return. When A.Kh. said he did not have such funds, F.G. promised, "My dear, look, do me a favor, and I will definitely sort out your job."
After that, the student recorded the conversation with the director on his phone and reported the situation to law enforcement agencies.
A day later, A.Kh. indicated his agreement to the director's conditions and wrote an application for employment. Then F.G. asked whether he had brought the agreed-upon money. The student said he could not find dollars but had brought 6 million soums.
After the director took the money, as he was seeing the student out, a person who introduced himself as a department employee asked them to return to the office to clarify the situation. F.G. initially agreed but then misled the employee and ran toward the main entrance of the school.
He threw the money in his hand into a clover patch and tried to escape by climbing over the school wall. However, after running about 200 meters, he stumbled and fell, and was caught by the participants of the operative action.
By the verdict of the Mirishkor District Criminal Court, F.G. was found guilty of committing the crime provided for in Article 210, Part 2, paragraph "c" of the Criminal Code.
He was sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment. He was also deprived of the right to hold official positions in state-owned enterprises, organizations, and institutions for a period of 2 years.
Earlier, it was reported that a school director in Surkhandarya, who received a bribe of 2 million soums from his deputy, was imprisoned for 4 years.
