Attempts to illegally export gold and foreign currency were detected in Tashkent region. In the cases, minors were used.
The Customs Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan reported this.
According to it, at the "Navoi" border customs post in Tashkent region, one of the women leaving the country aroused suspicion. During the inspection, two gold bars weighing nearly 200 grams hidden in her infant child's diaper were found.
Also, 70 grams of jewelry items not submitted for customs control were found with this person.
According to preliminary calculations, the total value of the gold items attempted to be illegally exported is estimated at 450 million soums.
In another case, a woman who was a citizen of a neighboring state was stopped by customs officers while trying to smuggle 40,000 US dollars by hiding them under the clothes of her 14-year-old daughter and take them out of the territory of Uzbekistan.
The Customs Committee reminded that involving minors in committing an offense is an aggravating circumstance under the law. Also, involving children in committing a crime may result in criminal liability.
Currently, customs inquiries into these cases are ongoing.
