The head of state extended deep condolences to the family members and loved ones of those who lost their lives as a result of the incident and wished them patience and fortitude. He also expressed wishes for the speedy recovery of the injured.
According to reports, at least 90 people died as a result of a gas explosion at a coal mine in Shanxi Province on May 22. The incident is being assessed as one of the major industrial tragedies in China.
The leader of the People's Republic of China called for a full intensification of rescue operations and for all measures to be taken to rescue those remaining in the mine. He also emphasized the need for a thorough investigation of the incident and for holding those responsible accountable.
Shanxi Province is considered one of China's main coal mining centers. At the same time, this region is also known for its mining safety problems and recurring industrial accidents.
