It has been reported that this year, a contract worth 1 billion 2 million soums was concluded between the district health department and a limited liability company engaged in wholesale trade of medicines and medical products.
Initially, 30 percent of the contract amount was transferred to the LLC's account. Subsequently, the head of the department demanded 15 percent of the contract value — 150 million soums — in exchange for transferring the remaining 70 percent of the funds and conducting future purchases through this company as well.
According to the State Security Service, the official was caught during an operational measure at the moment when he received 11,800 US dollars of the requested money through his spouse.
During the investigation, it was also revealed that he had collected back 92 million soums of the 448 million soum incentive funds allocated for employees of family polyclinics in the district.
In connection with the incident, a criminal case has been initiated against the head of the health department under articles of bribery and embezzlement, and against the representative of the LLC under the article of bribery. Investigative actions are ongoing.
