President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Karakalpakstan branch of the Technological Park of Software Products and Information Technologies. The President's press service reported this.
In recent years, the information technology sector in our country has been rapidly developing. Seven years ago, there were 147 IT companies in our country, but today there are more than 2,000. They employ 30,000 highly paid workers. More than 70,000 young people are independently engaged in IT.
The "Uzbekistan – 2030" strategy plans to increase the export volume in this sector to 5 billion dollars and employ 300,000 young people. Initiatives to establish IT towns in remote areas have begun.
Specifically, in Karakalpakstan, the number of IT park residents has tripled compared to the end of last year, now totaling 108. They have provided employment for 310 specialists. By the first half of 2024, the volume of services has increased by 2.4 times, and the volume of exports has increased by 1.7 times.
Education residents have trained 25,000 young people and civil servants, improving their qualifications. Within the "One Million Programmers" project, 18,000 young people were trained online in 2023, and by the same date in 2024, 29,000 young people were trained. This year, it is planned to educate more than 33,000 young people.
These results reflect the created conditions. During his visit to the region in 2021, the head of our state instructed to build a new building for the IT park. Accordingly, a modern 17-story building was constructed in the center of Nukus city. It houses IT education and coworking centers, offices, a conference hall, and service rooms. Also, IT park residents, investors operating in the sector, and foreign outsourcing companies will be accommodated in the building.
The move from a two-story building to a magnificent complex today indicates the grandness of the plans.
The President was informed about the work done in the building, the results and plans in the sector.
For example, Beknazar Abdikamalov from Karakalpakstan, who previously worked at Amazon in the USA, returned to his homeland and attracted 4 million dollars in investment for his HUPO startup. The head of our state spoke with him and supported his initiatives.
The head of our state interacted with IT park residents and specialists active in the field of information technologies. He listened to the thoughts of young people and gave instructions to officials to support their suggestions.
– If we implement startups in this sector, it will increase efficiency in the networks, reduce state expenses, and create jobs for the youth, - said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
In the building, there is also a branch of the UZINFOCOM center, which educates local youth in modern professions through the uStudy program. Qualified personnel are employed in modern companies according to their field.
The President emphasized the necessity to build such multi-story buildings for IT parks in all regions on a public-private partnership basis.
– The environment in them should be such that young people feel free. There should be food, recreation, sports, and other services. It is preferable that the buildings are located in the city centers, convenient for young people, – said the head of our state.
Instructions were given to connect this IT park with schools in the districts of Karakalpakstan to train young people interested in the sector, and subsequently involve them in high-paying jobs.
