The President of Uzbekistan highly values the contribution of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank in achieving sustainable development goals.

Currently, 15 projects worth 3 billion dollars are being implemented with the Bank in the areas of infrastructure, energy, transport, water supply, and sustainable development

“I am pleased to say that thanks to these, Uzbekistan has become one of the top-10 partners of the bank.

For instance, nearly 1.5 million people will be provided with continuous access to clean drinking water through a 720 million dollar project aimed at improving drinking water networks in the Bukhara region, in collaboration with the Bank. Or, the launch of the electrification project of the “Bukhara – Khiva” railway will create the opportunity to attract an additional 1 million tourists per year to the city of Khiva.

It is worth mentioning that we have agreed with the Bank to implement a program of projects worth another 4 billion dollars in the next three years”,
 - said the President.

The head of our state expressed his deep gratitude once again to Jin Liqun, the president of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, working together with Uzbekistan on projects and supporting broad reforms, the governments of member states, and managers of the Bank.

Also, he expressed his special respect and esteem to the participants of the conference from the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, European Investment Bank, as well as major companies and investors.

“In the next two days, the managers of the Bank face responsible tasks such as finding solutions to critical global and regional issues based on modern approaches, discussing new projects, and programs.

The decisions you make will have a direct impact on the daily lives of over 6 billion people living in member countries of the Bank.

I believe that in accomplishing these tremendous tasks, you will spare no effort, drawing upon your deep knowledge, extensive experience, and energy”,
 - President Shavkat Mirziyoyev concluded in his speech.
