Construction work on the dormitory building of Tashkent State Agrarian University was suspended due to poor quality of construction. This was reported by the regional Inspectorate for Control in the Construction and Housing and Communal Services Sector here.
It is noted that the contractor, "New brand house" LLC, conducted construction work on the dormitory building, designed for 400 students, in a poor quality and in violation of project requirements.
"Instead of installing profiles to form a frame for attaching gypsum board to the walls, gypsum was used to adhere them," says Ismoil Hamidov, the chief inspector of the Construction and Housing and Communal Services Sector control inspectorate in Tashkent region.
In addition, the installation of "lintels" for entrance doors to the interior rooms and roof works were also carried out contrary to the approved project documents. This indicates that the technical supervisor and internal auditor did not perform their duties at the site.
According to Ismoil Hamidov, inspection officers issued 14 written instructions to the responsible parties regarding the identified violations during the construction, and imposed fines three times, but the construction work continued in the same manner.
"As of today, construction works have been suspended until a re-technical inspection is conducted. Comprehensive raid activities are continuing in every district of Tashkent region," the report states.
