Under the chairmanship of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, issues of efficient utilization of water and energy resources in agriculture were discussed at the meeting, according to the President's press service.

It was emphasized that the most favorable time for concreting canals is from November to March. Still, 18 thousand kilometers of main and 94 thousand kilometers of internal canals need to be concreted.

Annually, 13 billion cubic meters of water are lost in the canals. This equals the annual water usage of Andijan, Navoiy, Namangan, Samarkand, and Sirdaryo regions.

For this reason, it was decided to allocate 800 billion soms for concreting next year.

Responsible authorities were instructed to complete the design and expertise of 66 main canal projects as soon as possible, start construction works, and ensure the supply of affordable cement.

Overall, governors were tasked with transitioning 15 thousand kilometers of internal ditches to concrete coatings in collaboration with farmers and clusters by April 1.

Officials were warned about the necessity of purposeful and economical use of every som allocated for each canal.
