A young man living in the Nurobod district of Samarkand region was convicted for distributing materials with religious extremist content. This was reported by the "Zamon" information program here.
It is noted that he opened a group on Telegram and began posting religiously themed music downloaded from the internet. This group, for nearly 1.5 years, received nasheeds that reflected extremist and dogmatic ideas.
"I have heard these songs in various channels. I liked the melody, so I posted them in the group without understanding the meaning. I do not know Arabic at all, I just liked the tune of the song," the defendant emphasized.
When the group run by the defendant was reviewed, it was found to contain 5 religiously themed nasheeds, all of which had been sent from the phone belonging to the young man.
The young man asked for leniency from the court, expressing remorse for his actions. He was found guilty of committing a crime under part 3 of Article 244-1 "g" of the Criminal Code (Preparing, storing, distributing, or displaying materials threatening public security and public order using mass media or telecommunication networks, including the World Wide Web) and was sentenced to 3 years of deprivation of liberty, with Article 57 (Lesser punishment) applied.
