"The Law on the Representative (Ombudsman) of the Human Rights of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan"(№ ЎРҚ-1002, dated 15.11.2024) was signed.
According to the law, the Ombudsman will review complaints about the actions or inactions of organizations or officials violating the human rights and freedoms of citizens, foreign citizens residing in the republic, stateless persons, and legal entities, and has the right to conduct their own investigation.
The Ombudsman will review complaints submitted within one year from the time the complainant became aware of the violation of their rights, freedoms, and legal interests or from when they have utilized other means and remain unsatisfied with the decisions made.
The following are considered measures of influence of the Ombudsman:
➖warning;
➖recommendation;
➖request;
➖demand.
The Ombudsman has the right to submit legislative proposals to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan in accordance with the legislative initiative procedure.
The Ombudsman and their deputy have the right to privileged travel within the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan by air, rail, and road passenger transport (excluding taxi and urban passenger transport).
