In Uzbekistan, in 2024, gas prices increased by 129%, electricity by 67%, and hot water by 32%.

Last year, the sharp increase in gas and electricity prices drove inflation up by 3.6 percent.

By the end of 2024, the annual official inflation rate in the country reached 9.8 percent. This information was provided by the Statistics Agency here.

The monthly inflation rate in December was 1 percent. In this period, food products increased by 1.8 percent, non-food products by 0.4 percent, and services by 0.7 percent.

In December, the prices of certain products increased compared to November as follows:

  • cotton oil — 9.2 percent;
  • sunflower oil — 6.1 percent;
  • eggs — 19.5 percent;
  • beef — 0.7 percent;
  • mutton — 0.6 percent;
  • chicken — 1.1 percent;
  • cucumbers — 52.7 percent;
  • bell peppers — 46.5 percent;
  • eggplants — 27.7 percent;
  • tomatoes — 22.4 percent;
  • potatoes — 6.3 percent;
  • onions — 5.7 percent;
  • milk — 1.6 percent.

In December, the cost of hot water increased by 1.4 percent, heating systems by 1.7 percent, and electricity, gas, and other fuel types by 0.1 percent. 

In Uzbekistan, energy tariffs were raised to record levels on an annual basis. Specifically, prices in December 2024 were increased from December 2023 as follows:

  • gas — 129 percent;
  • electricity — 67 percent;
  • hot water supply — 32.1 percent;
  • heating system — 36 percent.

The increase in the price of gas and electricity in 2024 has pushed up the annual inflation by 3.6 percent.

From April 1, 2025, the prices of electricity will increase by 24 percent, gas by 36 percent, propane by 25 percent, and methane by 39 percent. Specifically, the increase in electricity and gas prices alone is expected to raise the inflation rate by up to 1.8 percent.
