The first voyage of the China-Europe freight train in 2025 embarked from Xi'an International Port Station (Shaanxi Province) to Tashkent on January 1st, reports "Dunyo" news agency.
According to China's "Xinhua" news agency, this marks the launch of the first high-speed train from Xi'an city to Tashkent within the framework of international rail freight along the China-Europe route.
The train, loaded with 50 standard containers of household appliances, textiles, and chemical products, crosses the national border through the "Khorgos" border control point at the China-Kazakhstan frontier, reaching the territory of Uzbekistan.
"Thanks to the collaboration with the China Railway Corporation and other railway and customs authorities, the cargo train travel time from Xi'an to Tashkent has been reduced from 8-10 days to 5-6 days," highlighted Yuan Xiaojun, the director general of the Xi'an Free Trade Port Construction and Operation Company, in an interview with the agency.
According to the administration of the "Chanba" International Port in Xi'an city, from January to November 2024, the number of standard containers sent from Xi'an city to Central Asia via China-Europe freight trains reached 69,655, marking a 49.8 percent increase on an annual basis.
