South Korea's detained president, Yoon Suk Yeol, refused to testify regarding the charges of insurrection. This was reported by local media.
The president, who has been removed from his position, Yoon Suk Yeol, has been detained for two days now. Currently, the court is listening to the evidence presented by Yoon’s lawyers. According to the lawyers, the warrant for his arrest is not valid.
We remind you that on January 15th, South Korean police successfully detained the president on their second attempt. Yoon Suk Yeol faces charges of insurrection and abuse of power.
In early December, Yoon unsuccessfully attempted to declare martial law in the country. Following this, the parliament accused him of attempting an insurrection and announced his impeachment on December 14th.
Yoon Suk Yeol has been suspended from performing presidential duties, but the impeachment requires confirmation by the Constitutional Court to officially remove him from his position.
