Kyrgyzstan is selecting a new anthem. The Ministry of Culture has announced a competition to select the best projects for a new edition of the national anthem's lyrics and music. Composers, poets, musicians, and creative groups are invited to participate.
According to the Ministry, the winner of the first place will be awarded 1.5 million soms. Applications are accepted until March 20 of this year.
Deputy Minister of Culture Timurlan Ajimaliev stated that the purpose of the contest is to create a work of art that reflects the unity of the people, its historical heritage, and culture.
Previously, the speaker of the Kyrgyz parliament, Nurlanbek Turgunbek uluu, had mentioned the need to change the national anthem.
According to him, the current anthem is difficult to perform. He mentioned that the anthem should be adopted by April 25 of this year.
Earlier, in December 2023, minor changes were made to the Kyrgyz flag.
