A mother-in-law who killed her daughter-in-law within a month of marriage has been imprisoned for 13 years. This was reported by the Supreme Court press secretary Aziz Obidov.
It is reported that the horrific incident occurred on October 3, 2024, in the Narpay district of Samarkand region. Initially, the convicted woman had been deprived of maternal rights many years ago and had surrendered her son and daughter to an orphanage. However, years later, she returned to her married son's home, stating she had nowhere else to go. Thus, the mother began living with her son.
But as soon as the woman arrived at the house, she relentlessly criticized, insulted, and demeaned her daughter-in-law. The daughter-in-law called her own mother the very first day to talk about the mother-in-law's behavior. In October 2024, taking advantage of her son being away, the woman initiated another argument with her daughter-in-law. During the conflict, the accused grabbed the phone charging cable and began to strangle the girl, then smashed a glass container over the daughter-in-law's head. In addition, the mother-in-law took scissors and struck the girl in the neck but did not stop there. She then grabbed a knife from the kitchen and stabbed the daughter-in-law in the chest several times. The daughter-in-law succumbed to her injuries on the spot.
After committing the crime, the woman attempted to flee but was captured. She was found guilty under Article 97 of the Criminal Code (Intentional murder with extreme cruelty, assigning a lighter punishment) Part 2 "j" clause and was sentenced to 13 years in prison.
