Mario Teddi: “Leonardo da Vinci relied on the scientific heritage of Eastern scholars for many of his inventions – this is an undeniable truth!”
The famous Italian scientist and expert on Leonardo da Vinci's legacy, designer, and digital art master Mario Teddi visited the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan. The guest was amazed by the grandeur of the Center of Islamic Civilization:
"During our meeting in Italy, the director of the Center of Islamic Civilization invited me to Uzbekistan. I had an idea about the Center, but seeing it with my own eyes, I was astonished by its majesty and beauty. Particularly, the architectural style, interior design, unique arches, and artistic decorations make it one of the greatest cultural projects in the history of Islamic civilization. I am confident that this project, led by the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, will become an unparalleled mega-project on a global scale," said the Italian scientist.
For your information, Mario Teddi is a leading expert in multimedia and museum education, known for his work on the Leonardo da Vinci Science and Technology Museum projects in Milan. In addition, he has carried out a number of projects in programming, 3D graphics, video games, virtual reality, and multimedia applications. He is known as a prominent researcher in the legacy of Leonardo da Vinci, ancient technologies and their impact on modernity.
Mario Teddi reminded during the meeting that Western Renaissance scholars like Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo utilized the scientific heritage of Central Asian scholars, and an exhibition dedicated to Leonardo da Vinci, inspired by the discoveries of eminent Uzbek scholars, is planned to be organized in Uzbekistan.
"You might find it hard to believe, but some of Leonardo's greatest inventions were based on the works of great Uzbek scholars like Al-Biruni, Al-Khwarizmi, and Al-Farghani. Our goal is to demonstrate to the world how Islamic science influenced the development of Europe and to present these discoveries at the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan. For example, many ideas later implemented by Leonardo da Vinci can be found in the books of Al-Biruni. It's clear that da Vinci studied ancient mathematics and geometry, and this was no coincidence! Indeed, the foundations of modern mathematics were laid in your land. This is the historical pride of your people, and we intend to bring these discoveries to life with the help of modern technologies," emphasized Teddi.
The Italian scientist expressed his satisfaction with the plans to exhibit works by Michelangelo inspired by the scientific heritage of Uzbek scholars in the Center and supported this initiative.
According to the agreement, an exhibition "Great Scholars of Uzbekistan and Michelangelo" will be organized at the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan to showcase how the works of great scholars influenced the Renaissance period.
Also, during the meeting with Mario Teddi, discussions were held about enriching the Center of Islamic Civilization's exhibitions with multimedia technologies and creating digital museum exhibitions to give visitors a deeper insight into the world of Islamic science and art.
The meeting also saw participation from Sinan Turaman, the head of the “Outdoor Factory” company from Turkey, with extensive experience in museum and media fields, and Thomas Müller, a leading media specialist from Germany. They expressed their readiness to closely assist and collaborate on the project.
Furthermore, Rustam Shoabdurahmonov, the head of the Directorate for Construction, Reconstruction, and Capital Repair of Socially Significant Objects, also shared his thoughts, expressing gratitude to the guests for their contributions to the development of our beloved country's history, culture, and science. He wished success for the project and expressed readiness for support.
"Utilizing advanced technologies in cultural centers around the world is already yielding positive results. On January 29 this year, during the center's activity review, our esteemed President issued directives to study and showcase the contribution of science to world history through innovative technologies in this historic locale. Hence, we are exploring international practices. During our recent trip to Italy, we invited several experts and scholars to our country. By efficiently using their experience, we aim to transform the Center's exhibits into a global interactive educational, cultural, and enlightening platform," said Firdavs Abdukhalikov during the meeting.
Let us remind you, from February 12-16, the delegation of the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan made a scientific and creative visit to Italy. The trip included discussions with representatives of various libraries, museums, experts, and collectors.
