According to the singer and her lawyer, the defendant initially agreed with the singer's "word". Then, he presented himself as an entrepreneur engaged in the trade of citrus fruits, gaining her trust. He claimed to make a profit of 25-30 thousand for each truckload of incoming citrus fruits. Believing this, Dilfuza Ismoilova said, "I also wanted to start a business, it seemed like a good plan, I will invest money." They agreed to share the profits equally. Thus, the singer fell into the defendant's trap.
The defendant had previously been convicted under Article 168 of the Criminal Code, which pertains to the crime of fraud.
