The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, had a meeting on April 3 with the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who arrived in the city of Samarkand to participate in the first "Central Asia - EU" summit held.
The President of Turkmenistan conveyed the heartfelt greetings of the national leader of the Turkmen people, the Chairman of the National Council, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, to the leader of our state.
Issues of further developing and strengthening the friendship, good neighborliness, and strategic partnership relations between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan were considered.
It was noted with great satisfaction that the trade turnover, which exceeded 1.1 billion dollars by the end of last year, is steadily increasing.
Cooperation projects in the fields of industry, energy, transport, agriculture, and water management are being successfully implemented. The "Shovot - Tashauz" border trade zone is being jointly established. Regular interregional dialogues and cultural-humanitarian exchange events are being held.
Special attention was paid to the preparation for the upcoming high-level bilateral meetings and multilateral events, as well as to advancing joint projects on broad cooperation.
