The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, conducted negotiations on April 3 within the framework of the first "Central Asia - European Union" summit with the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon here.

At the beginning of the conversation, the leaders of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan with great satisfaction noted the historic results of the high-level tripartite meeting that took place in the city of Khujand on March 31 this year.

It was emphasized that the full regulation of border issues opens a new chapter in the development of regional cooperation.

The urgent issues of further strengthening the relations of friendship, good neighborliness, strategic partnership, and alliance between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan were considered.

Special attention was given to the issues of implementing high-level agreements.

The importance of developing specific measures to increase trade and accelerate cooperation projects at the meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission taking place this month was noted.

The leaders discussed regional agenda issues, as well as the preparation for bilateral and multilateral events.

Also, the President had a meeting with the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov here.

The President of Turkmenistan conveyed to our country's leader the sincere greetings of the national leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the People's Council Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

Issues concerning the further development and strengthening of the relations of friendship, good neighborliness, and strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan were examined.

The steady increase of trade turnover exceeding 1.1 billion dollars at the end of last year was noted with great satisfaction.

Cooperation projects in the fields of industry, energy, transport, agriculture, and water resources are being successfully implemented. Together, the "Shovot - Tashauz" border trade zone is being established. Active interregional dialogues and cultural-humanitarian exchange events are regularly held.

Preparations for upcoming high-level bilateral meetings and multilateral events, as well as the promotion of joint projects on comprehensive cooperation, were given special attention.
