Starting from May 1, 2025, citizens will pay 800 soums per kilowatt-hour for electricity consumption between 201 kWh and 500 kWh, instead of the current rate of 900 soums. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Energy.
According to the announcement, the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan has adopted Resolution No. 194 titled “On amending the schedule for gradual changes in the prices of fuel and energy resources for 2024–2025 to support consumers of fuel and energy resources.”
Based on the President’s instructions, the new decision introduces amendments to the previously approved Resolution No. 204 (dated April 16, 2024), aiming to ease the burden on households.
One of the changes is the postponement of the scheduled fuel and energy price increase from April 1 to May 1.
In addition, a new consumption range has been introduced within the differentiated tariff for usage between 201 kWh and 1000 kWh.
Specifically, from May 1, 2025, residential consumers using between 201 kWh and 500 kWh will pay 800 soums per kWh. Previously, the rate for consumption between 201 and 1000 kWh was 900 soums.
For example, a household that consumes an average of 500 kWh per month used to pay 360,000 soums (90,000 soums for the first 200 kWh at the base rate, and 270,000 soums for the remaining 300 kWh).
After the tariff change, they will still pay 360,000 soums per month — 120,000 soums for the first 200 kWh and 240,000 soums for the next 300 kWh. This means the price has not increased for them.
Moreover, the resolution also states that electricity and natural gas tariffs will be indexed annually from May 1, based on the inflation rate, not exceeding 10% per year.
