U.S. President Donald Trump has stated that he may sign an agreement with the President of Ukraine concerning the country’s mineral resources. This was reported by Deutsche Welle (DW).

It was noted that Trump made this statement on April 17, 2025, during a meeting at the White House with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. He also added that the agreement could be signed on April 24.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, who also attended the meeting, stated that the details of the agreement are still under discussion and mentioned April 26 as a possible signing date.

Furthermore, Ukrainian Minister of Economy Yuliia Svyrydenko announced that a “memorandum of intent” has already been signed between Kyiv and Washington regarding rare earth elements and other mineral resources.

According to her, the next steps will be to finalize the text of the agreement, sign it, and then seek ratification by the parliaments of both Ukraine and the United States.
