The Minister of Health, Asilbek Khudoyorov, received a parliamentary inquiry from the deputy of the “Adolat” party, Gulnora Abduvohidova, regarding the increasing incidents of citizens' health being seriously harmed and even resulting in death due to incorrect medical treatments in private medical facilities. This was reported by the press service of the “Adolat” social-democratic party.
It was mentioned that despite positive changes in the medical system in recent years, the deputy emphasized in her inquiry the growing public concern over the increasing number of tragic incidents, such as deaths and disabilities of citizens due to incorrect diagnosis or treatment by doctors in some private medical institutions.
According to the information provided in the inquiry, the number of convictions related to medical professionals failing to perform their duties properly has been increasing year by year (67 individuals in 2023, 94 in 2024, and 16 in the first quarter of 2025).
Abduvohidova, using the recent widely-discussed fatalities in private clinics in Fergana and Bukhara and the serious injury caused to a young blogger as a result of incorrect plastic surgery as examples, emphasized the need to investigate the reasons behind these negative trends and to take necessary measures to prevent them.
The parliamentary inquiry posed the following important questions to the Ministry of Health:
What are the underlying reasons for the increase in these unfortunate incidents in private medical institutions, and what measures are being taken by the ministry to prevent them?
Has the ministry analyzed each case of human death, disability, or serious harm to health occurring in private clinics, and what practical measures have been taken to prevent their recurrence?
Is there a systematic control mechanism in place to ensure the correct application of treatments and adherence to approved medical protocols in private medical institutions? What specific measures are being implemented in this regard?
What proposals and initiatives does the ministry plan to introduce to tighten licensing requirements and conditions for private clinics with the aim of reliably protecting public health?
In accordance with Article 15 of the “Law on Parliamentary Control” (request of a deputy of the Legislative Chamber, member of the Senate), the deputy asked the Minister of Health to provide a substantiated response to the above questions within a period of 10 days.
