US President Donald Trump officially visited Qatar. He was welcomed at the airport by the Amir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. Trump became the first US president to visit Qatar in the last 22 years.
During the visit to Qatar, the situation in the Gaza Strip and the negotiations between Hamas, with Qatar as one of the mediators, and Israel, are expected to be discussed.
As a reminder, during his visit to Saudi Arabia, US President Donald Trump announced that an agreement had been reached to fully restore diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and Qatar. This was reported by The Washington Post in an article.
According to Trump, a stable agreement emerged following years of conflict between the two countries, and plans are underway to reopen embassies, resume flights, and enhance bilateral trade in the coming weeks.
He added that this agreement is not only important for political stability in the Middle East, but also strengthens the solidarity among the US's allies in the region.
