Due to Trump, US citizens have submitted applications for British citizenship at a record level here.
In the first three months of 2025 — after Donald Trump returned to the presidency — more than 1930 US citizens submitted documents to obtain British citizenship. This is the highest figure recorded in the entire history of observations.
According to the Financial Times, the number of applications from US citizens for British citizenship reached a record level in the period of January-March 2025.
During this three-month period, more than 1930 Americans applied for citizenship — this is 12 percent more compared to the previous quarter and the highest figure since observations began.
The publication notes that the increase in interest in moving to Britain is related to Donald Trump's return to the US presidency. Immigration lawyers confirm a sharp increase in the number of applications, citing concerns for the future, mental exhaustion, and a pursuit of financial stability as the main reasons.
One of the experts participating in the survey said:
"People feel fear, mental fatigue, and a desire for financial security".
Experts are noting an increase in the mood for emigration among Americans following Trump's return to the presidency.
At the end of last year, it was reported that many senior executives of large companies in the US had resigned in anticipation of Trump's inauguration.
Moreover, the number of wealthy citizens planning to leave the US after the presidential elections also reached a record level, due to political instability and the risk of social unrest.
Even The Washington Post published a guide for Americans who wanted to leave the country after Trump's victory — it examined the possibilities of moving to Canada and other countries.
