In the video, the President appears at the airplane door, chatting with someone inside when a hand approaches his face, striking his cheek softly. Macron shows brief surprise but quickly composes himself, greeting the cameras. Then he and his wife disembark from the airplane. His wife's attire matches that seen in the slap incident.
According to Élysée Palace, this incident was a simple jest and fun between the President and his wife before the start of their trip.
“It was a moment of intimacy. However, that was sufficient for conspiracy theorists,” the report states.
Therefore, according to Élysée Palace, the actions of Brigitte Macron and Emmanuel Macron do not signify any serious quarrel or conflict. It was a joke.
