On May 29, following the high-level Uzbekistan-Italy negotiations between Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, a solemn ceremony dedicated to naming a street in the city of Samarkand after the city of Rome was held at the international Congress center. The press service of the President of Uzbekistan reported.

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized that this decision was taken considering the deep historical and cultural ties, the current high level of strategic partnership relations, and as a symbol of friendship and mutual respect between the people of Uzbekistan and Italy.

Previously, Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Giorgia Meloni had discussed the possibilities of training Uzbek exporters to enter the European Union market, establishing a joint Certification center in Tashkent, launching a Technological partnership program, and forming an investment fund.
