New York-based startup Aircela has created a new device that produces gasoline directly from the air. This device, the size of a commercial refrigerator, absorbs carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and uses water and renewable energy to produce gasoline suitable for cars. This process does not require any fuel to be consumed.

The Aircela device can collect 10 gallons (about 38 liters) of CO₂ gas daily and produce 1 gallon (about 3.8 liters) of gasoline. The device has the capacity to store up to 17 gallons of fuel. This gasoline can be poured directly into standard fuel tanks.

Aircela plans to start mass production of the device in the fall of 2025. The device is targeted at various customers — from individual users to gas stations and industrial facilities.

This technology can not only reduce carbon emissions but also lessen the ecological impact of existing vehicles. Aircela considers this method to be the most efficient way to deliver carbon-neutral fuels to the general public.
