In Japan, companies that have employees work in the scorching heat can be fined up to $3,500. This is reported by Bloomberg here.
It is reported that the new law was adopted following the deaths of 30 people at their workplace due to high temperatures and nearly 1,200 injuries last year.
The majority of the victims worked in construction or manufacturing.
The law requires companies to use air conditioning in workplaces and provide emergency transport to hospitals if necessary. Special measures are required for workplaces where the temperature exceeds 31 degrees for more than one hour at a time or for four hours or more throughout the day.
