Germany's Chancellor, Friedrich Merz, who assumed his position a month ago, has seen a significant increase in his political popularity. According to the monthly social survey results by “Deutschlandtrend,” Merz's rating has increased by 14 percentage points in the last two months, reaching 39 percent.

However, the satisfaction level with the new government's performance is not very high: only 40 percent of Germans have positively evaluated the first month of the new government, comprised of the Christian Democratic Union/Christian Social Union (CDU/CSU) and the Social Democratic Party (SPD).

At the same time, the Minister of Defense, Boris Pistorius, remains the most popular politician in Germany. His current rating stands at 61 percent. He had also enjoyed high ratings during the previous government's term.

Although the activities of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party leader, Alice Weidel, have been positively assessed by 26 percent of the population, she remains the most criticized politician: 66 percent of survey participants have criticized her work.
