On June 9, at the Kok Saroy residence, negotiations took place between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic, Robert Fico. The President's press service reported this.
The pressing issues of further developing practical cooperation between Uzbekistan and Slovakia were discussed.
At the beginning of the meeting, our state leader specifically emphasized that this visit marks the beginning of a new phase in the multifaceted Uzbekistan-Slovakia relations in terms of quality.
It was noted with satisfaction that cooperation is rapidly developing in all directions. Constructive political dialogues have been established at the level of foreign ministries, and business and humanitarian exchanges have been activated.
Trade exchanges are increasing. The first meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission was efficiently held in May. Work is being carried out on a number of new directions and projects for cooperation.
Taking into account modern threats and the unpredictable international situation, the importance of systematic cooperation, coordination, and support within the framework of partnership with foreign political institutions, including European institutions, was noted.
Particular attention was given to expanding the types of products being mutually supplied to increase trade exchanges.
Exports from Uzbekistan include textiles, agriculture, electrotechnical, chemical products, polymers, and from Slovakia include rubber, automobile parts, pharmaceuticals, and other industrial goods.
The importance of eliminating technical barriers and launching a quantum standards laboratory within the scope of implementing agreements on technical regulation and metrology was noted.
An agreement was reached on preparing a comprehensive program for industrial cooperation with leading Slovak companies, including projects in the agro-industrial complex, localization of automotive components, production of pharmaceutical products, "green" energy, and tourism projects.
Great opportunities exist in implementing digital solutions and the field of startup investments. In this context, the issue of establishing a joint venture fund for accelerating IT startups was considered.
It was suggested to make extensive use of existing financial resources to support joint projects.
Both parties confirmed their interest in developing educational and academic exchanges in the humanitarian field. An agreement was reached to launch joint research programs, including participation by Comenius University in Bratislava.
The parties agreed to adopt a cooperation program in the field of culture, envisaging the holding of exhibitions, film screenings, concerts, as well as projects in the field of museum activities.
Special attention was paid to the issues of organized labor migration. The Slovak side stressed its interest in establishing systematic cooperation in this area.
International issues of global significance, including mutual support in multilateral venues, were also discussed.
The two countries’ governments agreed to adopt a comprehensive "roadmap" to timely and efficiently implement the adopted decisions and agreements.
