Negotiations were held at the Kokhsaroy residence between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of the Republic of Bulgaria Rumen Radev with the participation of official delegations. This was reported by the President's press service.
The pressing issues of further developing practical cooperation between Uzbekistan and Bulgaria were discussed.
The leader of our state warmly congratulated the leader of Bulgaria, emphasizing that the first summit in the last 17 years holds historical significance, and it elevates the Uzbekistan-Bulgaria relations of friendship and partnership to a qualitatively new level.
It was noted with great satisfaction that cooperation between parliaments, economies, and foreign policy departments has intensified.
Trade indicators are increasing, new directions and projects of cooperation are being developed.
Humanitarian exchanges are being carried out, and sister city relationships have been established between Bukhara and Varna, Samarkand and Plovdiv.
In order to further strengthen multilateral cooperation, it was noted that it is important to establish systematic relations between foreign policy departments.
Special attention was paid to increasing trade, primarily through expanding the supply of textiles, food, chemical and pharmaceutical products, metal goods, and technological equipment.
With the aim of encouraging the growth of mutual trade, decisions were made to open trade houses in the capitals, accredit laboratories, and allocate preferential credit lines.
Promoting joint projects in the agro-industrial and food industries, pharmaceuticals, geology, artificial intelligence, digital technologies and IT, and tourism were noted as priority directions.
Special attention was paid to the development of efficient land and air transport routes. In this context, the sides agreed to explore the possibility of establishing direct flights between the two countries.
The issue of opening a representative office of the Migration Agency of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Sofia city will be considered for establishing systematic cooperation in the field of labor resources.
Initiatives to activate humanitarian ties, including academic and scientific exchanges, and to hold a meeting of the heads of leading higher education institutions in the city of Andijan this year were supported.
It was also agreed to organize a week of culture and cinema of Uzbekistan and Bulgaria next year.
For the purpose of ensuring systematic oversight of the implementation of the agreements reached, the parties resolved to adopt a joint "roadmap" and to elevate the level of the Inter-Governmental Commission’s co-chairs, involving the heads of regions and major companies in its work.
At the end of the meeting, President Rumen Radev invited President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to visit Bulgaria at a convenient time for him in return.
