The first phase of the reconstruction of the arrival hall at Islam Karimov Tashkent International Airport has been completed, and the renovated right portion of the hall has been opened for use. This was reported by Uzbekistan Airports here.
The overall area of the hall has been expanded, a new pathway for cars and buses has been built, a 120-space parking lot has been organized, and a green area has been established.
The expansion of the building facade allowed for an increase in the area of the arrival hall by 2100 sq meters. As a result, the customs area was expanded, an additional baggage carousel was installed, and, for the first time inside the terminal, a seating area with 120 seats was created for those waiting.
Beyond the waiting area, a dedicated lane for short-term stops adjacent to the hall has been opened. Now, the area in front of the hall can be accessed by taxis, personal vehicles, and buses alike — with the parking time in the lane being the same as that in the departure hall lane, set at 10 minutes.
The second phase of the reconstruction is planned to be completed by the end of 2025. It involves installing an additional baggage conveyor, enlarging the waiting area with cafes, shops, and other services.
"Today, the work on expanding the right section of the terminal has been finished. The reconstruction of the left section will begin tomorrow. As we cannot halt the airport operations, we have planned to carry out the work in phases. Despite the high weather conditions and the passenger flow (up to 200 flights per day) from November to June, the construction work was carried out without interruption. We apologize for any temporary inconvenience and express our gratitude for your patience. We believe that the results of our work will please all guests of the capital," — said the officials of the Uzbekistan Airports construction department.
The final stage — merging the arrival and departure halls into a single terminal complex. Upon completion, the total area of the terminal will exceed 10,000 sq meters, with the capacity increasing to 2400 passengers per hour.
