Yesterday, June 22nd, the Russian military launched a missile strike on a Ukrainian military training range. This was announced by the command of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to official reports, the strike resulted in at least 3 soldiers killed and another 11 wounded. Analysts assess this event as a severe blow to the Ukrainian army, especially at a time when every trained soldier is as valuable as gold in the conditions of warfare.
According to the command's press service, the attack occurred during an exercise of one of the mechanized brigades. However, the location of the strike has not been disclosed.
However, a Telegram channel named “Nikolaevsky Vanek,” active on Ukrainian social networks, claims that the attack took place in the Nikolaev region. This source is often known for its close connections with officials.
It is worth noting that this is the fourth missile strike on a Ukrainian range in June. After an attack on another range in the Dnepropetrovsk region on June 1st, the commander of the Ground Forces of Ukraine, Major General Mikhail Drapaty, resigned.
Whether the Ukrainian military command learns from these strikes or if this is yet another serious mistake remains to be seen. However, the fact is: targeting military ranges is a sign of increasingly weakening security behind the front lines.
