According to the statement of Kharkiv Mayor Igor Terekhov, the Russian army has for the first time used new type of drones named “Chernika” against Ukrainian territory. According to him, in recent weeks, not only “Shahed” drones but also the precisely targeted “Chernika” drones have attacked the city.
Terekhov emphasized that these attacks are the first of their kind against Kharkiv and, more broadly, Ukraine. According to reports, one of these drones fell on the territory of a garage cooperative, causing damage to several cars.
Ukrainian military analysts have previously reported that “Chernika” drones are produced in two versions: light (“Chernika-1”) and heavy (“Chernika-2”). The second model is designed to target fortified defense points and heavy military equipment, capable of covering distances up to 100 kilometers.
So far, Russia has not provided an official statement regarding the use of these drones. The Ukrainian side has not disclosed what measures are being taken against this new threat.
